Kolkata, Aug 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) West Bengal’s Murshidabad District Police have started an investigation after five teenagers who left their respective homes on Friday reportedly to visit a local mosque for Jummah Namaz, suspiciously went missing at Domkal in the district.
The incident was reported from Srikrishnapur village under Domkal Police Station in Murshidabad district. As per the complaint registered by the family members of the five missing teenagers, although they left their homes claiming to visit the local mosque, in reality none of them reached the mosque, said a district police officer on Friday.
Local police have launched an investigation to trace them. The cops are investigating whether they were kidnapped or if they left on their own for any purpose.
A district police officer informed that the five teenagers stay in the same neighbourhood in Srikrishnapur village and were extremely close friends. “While four of them have their ancestral homes at Srikrishnapur village, the fifth one is an original resident of Kaliganj and he was staying at his maternal uncle’s house at Srikrishnapur village and studying at a local school,” the police officer said.
Four of them study in the same school. All five missing teenagers are between the ages of 13 and 15. As per the missing diary registered by their family members, the five teenagers had left home on Friday to attend the Jummah Namaz there.
But when they did not return home till late afternoon, the family members got worried. Initially, they started searching for them and also enquired at the local mosque where they claimed to be going.
They got worried when they came to know that the five missing teenagers did not visit the mosque to offer prayers. Thereafter, the family members approached the Domkal Police at around 12 midnight on Friday, following which the police started searching for them.
“The possibility of these five teenagers going somewhere in search of any job is quite high. At the same time, the possibility of their abduction also cannot be ruled out completely. So, we are conducting the investigation keeping all the possibilities in mind. After all, five teenagers going missing at the same time and together is not a simple issue,” said a district police officer.
It is learnt that the investigating officers are questioning the local people to check if anyone has spotted them together for the last time.
